Out of Catchment students are encouraged to apply!

The Gap State High School offers an exclusive point of difference through our Programs of Excellence which are tailor-made to enhance student outcomes in a number of areas including:

  • Accelerated Music Program (AMPed)
  • Elite Volleyball Program (EVP)
  • Honours - Academic and German Imersion
  • STEAM (Year 9 and 10 only)

How to Apply for Programs of Excellence 

The school’s Programs of Excellence are supported through the allocation of a defined number of places. Places in the Programs of Excellence are available to Out of Catchment enrolments and In Catchment enrolments.

If you reside outside of our catchment area and are applying for one of The Gap State High School's Programs of Excellence, kindly ensure that you complete an Out of Catchment Expression of Interest Form in addition to the online Programs of Excellence Application corresponding to your child's area of interest (Please refer to the Enrolling at our School page of our school website).

Round 1: Due Thursday 9 May 2024 (trial held Term 2 Week 7)

Round 2: Due Thursday 11 July 2024 (trial held Term 3 Week 2)


Accelerated Music Program (AMPed)

The Gap State High School Accelerated Music Program (AMPed) is for high performing students who have the music ability and initiative, alongside a strong commitment to music studies. 

AMPed students are provided with an opportunity to study AMEB theory aligned with their Instrumental studies and accelerate through the Australian Curriculum Years 7 to 10 and the Senior Phase Music Curriculum (Years 11 to 12) one year ahead of their cohort.

Elite Volleyball Program (EVP)

The Gap SHS Elite Volleyball Program is an excellence program aimed at fostering holistic athletic development of talented students in the area of Volleyball. 

The program aims to promote conduct, knowledge and skills, benefiting the students in their performance of volleyball and other sports; academic and vocational pursuits; and personal development and to develop young people through interactions based on personal challenge, collaborative group work and team dynamics.

We focus on building Elite Character, Commitment and Competitiveness with Volleyball as the vehichle to set students up with skills for future careers.


Come and Try Day

TGSHS Elite Volleyball Program holds Come and Try Days during the year. The next upcoming EVP Try Day is in Week 8 of Term 2 2024.

Honours - German Immersion

The Honours: German Immersion Program is a program of academic excellence. 

The Honours German Immersion Program is an academically rigorous program, tailored for high- achieving students. It is for students who have the ability, initiative and a strong commitment to their academic studies. This program offers a distinctive chance for students to excel academically and simultaneously master a new language.

Designed for students who may have limited or no prior experience with German, the program teaches various subjects using German as the primary language of instruction. This approach empowers students to think creatively and express themselves fluently in German across diverse academic and cultural settings.​
