It is very exciting to finally see the return of international students and study tours to our schools. These programs offer invaluable opportunities for our local students to build an understanding of global cultures and for international students to access world-class education and live in beautiful Queensland. Homestay forms an integral part of the international students' program in schools. A homestay family provides a secure family environment with a bedroom, study area, and three meals a day, and contributes to the brilliant reputation Queensland has of providing the perfect Aussie cultural experience. Our homestay families are a smorgasbord of diversity. They are married couples with or without kids, singles, singles with kids, dog people, cat people and grandparents too. After two inactive years we find our homestay stocks greatly depleted and currently in short supply here in Queensland. This is a critical issue for us. If you have a spare room, why not become a host to an international student and receive a fortnightly payment to cover homestay expenses? Now that travel restrictions have been lifted our international students and their parents will be on the lookout for a Queensland safe-haven to call home.
