Mathematics is
taught across all year levels. Topics
and units are informed by the Australian Curriculum and QCAA.
It is a subject
that helps students use systematic and methodical approaches to real life
problems. Mathematics is about reasoning
and solving problems of chance, geometry, algebra and number.
By studying
mathematics students will:
apply Mathematical concepts to everyday problems
develop ideas and approaches to simple and complex problems
be able to prove and disprove assumptions in mathematical problems
Students in
Year 10 have the opportunity to study Mathematics Core or Advanced
Mathematics. Also in Year 10, students have the choice to study the elective Specialist Mathematics. While senior students are able to access Essential Mathematics,
General Mathematics, Methods and Specialist Mathematics.
