Health and
Physical Education (HPE) is a compulsory subject for all students up until Year
9. Our motto; Moving Bodies,
Moving Minds drives teaching and learning.
HPE provides a
holistic approach to education. It
focuses on students learning about their bodies, the way they move, what they
are capable of and how their minds grow and change when they manage their
bodies productively.
Students who study HPE will:
gain
perspectives about nutrition and the science of human development
grow confident in their own physical abilities to apply their skills to new sports and physical activities
become life-long movers and will learn the benefits of being active
In Years 7-8
students will study HPE for three out of four semesters. It becomes compulsory for Year 9 students and
an elective for Years 10-12.
Year 10 students can also elect to complete the Sport, Recreation and Fitness (SRF) subject which leads into either Sport & Recreation as well as the Certificate III/IV in Fitness in year 11.
Year 11-12 can
choose between general subject Physical Education, Certificate III/IV
in Fitness and Sport & Recreation. These certificates are
packaged with a Certificate II in Sport and Recreations.
