The study of English uses a broad range of texts and learning activities to engage learners to use, understand and develop their own texts and interact with language in the wider world.  Students of English can expect to analyse texts and perspectives on real world issues and concepts and to appreciate the use of language.

During the study of English students will learn to:

  • engage in the modern world through a variety of texts and mediums

  • identify perspectives and support their own ideas and opinions

  • become critical thinkers and life-long learners of language, literacy and literature

An English subject is compulsory throughout Years 7-12.  From Years 11-12, students will have the opportunity to engage in English Essentials, General English or Literature

For further information and details about units studied, please see the school’s curriculum handbook in further reading.
