VISION
The Excellence: Academic Honours Program aims to build a community of curious,
self-directed learners who grow beyond the classroom.
Students are empowered to:
Take ownership of their learning, think critically and creatively and approach excellence
as a mindset, not just an outcome.
Through personalised learning and enrichment opportunities, students develop:
Confidence and independence, collaboration and teamwork skills, readiness for
senior studies and meaningful contribution to society.
In Practice
• In our diverse classrooms, expert curriculum teachers use Personalised Learning Records
to differentiation for Academic Honours students with enrichment and/or extension.
• Students engage with 2-3 conference style meetings a term after school, driven by
student interest and need.
• 1 x Learning Retreat each Year for a day of immersive enrichment.

advanced learning.
Early University Opportunities – Access programs like University HeadStart
while still at school. Gain exposure to higher education expectations and
pathways.
Personal & Passion Development – Cultivate independence, confidence, and self
directed learning. Pursue personal interests and gifts beyond the curriculum.
Contribution to Society – Apply skills and knowledge to make a positive impact in
the community. Build habits of responsibility, leadership, and ethical engagement.
“Autonomous learners perceive learning and living as two main components of their
ongoing development of potential in the cognitive, emotional, social and physical
domains. Their motivation comes from within, they internalise skills, and passion
learning is their driving force. Autonomous learners are never satisfied, for they
perceive their needs for a nourishing life, as well as the greater needs of society.” – Dr George T. Betts
