LATE CHANGE: Only Year 7 this year.
The ICAS Digital Technologies Assessment will be held in the week of August 7-11, and it is open to all current Year 7, 8, 9, and 10 students who are studying Digital Technologies. For students in Year 7 and 8 who are currently taking Digital Technologies in Semester 1, they have the option to participate and will be withdrawn only for one period during that week to complete the test. However, for Year 7 and 8 students studying Digital Technologies in Semester 2, the assessment will be conducted in class.
Interest Confirmation: If your child wishes to participate in the ICAS Digital Technologies Assessment, please have them inform the Head of Digital Technologies or their Digital Technologies teacher. This will help us make the necessary arrangements and ensure their participation.
Lockdown Browser: In preparation for the assessment, students will need to download a lockdown browser to their laptops. We will provide further information and instructions regarding the browser download in Term 3. Your cooperation in facilitating this process will be greatly appreciated.
Permission Form: You will receive a permission form either via email or as a printed copy that needs to be completed and returned to us in Term 3. Your prompt attention to this matter will assist us in finalizing the necessary administrative procedures.
Practice and Preparation: We encourage students to practice and prepare for the ICAS Digital Technologies Assessment. In class, we will provide practice questions to familiarize students with the assessment format. Additionally, a Stile page will be added to their Stile Dashboard, offering further resources and guidance. Your encouragement and support in their preparation will undoubtedly contribute to their success.
We would like to emphasize that the ICAS Digital Technologies Assessment is offered at zero cost to families. We believe that providing this opportunity without financial burden enables equal access for all students and aligns with our commitment to promoting digital technologies education.
The ICAS Digital Technologies Assessment provides an excellent opportunity for students to challenge themselves academically and gain recognition for their achievements. It also allows them to benchmark their skills against students from across Australia. As stated by ICAS, understanding Digital Technologies is essential in our increasingly digital world, where technology plays a fundamental role in various aspects of our lives.
The assessment will cover topics such as digital systems, word processing, graphics and multimedia, internet and email, spreadsheets and databases, and programming. By participating in the ICAS Digital Technologies Assessment, students will further develop their knowledge, practical skills, and understanding of these crucial areas.
