Any Macbook from 2018 onwards is able to be used at our school. The Macbook must have a 256GB SSD or larger. M1/2 Macbooks are permitted however we cannot guarantee that all required programs will run on Apple Silicone.
BYOD laptops are expected to have a battery life to last a full school day (6 hours).
We strongly discourage gaming laptops for school use as they typical have a short battery life.
All specialist Graphics / Engineering/ Multimedia/ Digital Technologies/ Film and TV classes are held in specialist school labs. Families of students undertaking specialist subjects may wish to purchase a laptop that meets or exceeds the recommended specifications listed above.
Microsoft Windows laptops are preferred for students undertaking Graphics and/or Engineering subjects.
Loan devices may be available from the library should a student need a short term hire while a BYOD is being repaired. Deposit and hire fees may apply.
No onsite repair service is available for BYOD laptops. BYOD repairs are the responsibility of the family. It is highly recommended that an insurance/Accidental Damage Policy (ADP) is taken out on the BYOD laptop. Please be mindful that some ADPs do not include the school environment.
Not supported devices
Chrome books, Chrome OS and Android Tablets are not supported on the Education Queensland network due to data security risks. Any devices brought to school running Chrome OS will not be able to connect to the network, use Microsoft services such as Word and Outlook, or be able to print.
iPads are no longer supported by our school.
Windows 7, 8, 10S and 11s are not supported due to security risks and certificate requirements to connect to our schools network. Windows 10S does not support the installation of third party applications which limits students learning.
