VISION

The Excellence: Accelerated Music Program (AMPed) is dedicated to nurturing students with a deep passion for music, guiding them to grow as versatile, confident, and innovative musicians.

Through rigorous and accelerated study, collaborative ensemble experiences, and opportunities for creative exploration, students develop technical mastery, expressive artistry, and a lifelong appreciation for music. The program equips them with the skills, discipline, and imagination to excel not only in music but in all areas of life.

VALUES

Collaboration – Working together in ensembles and groups, students learn to listen, support, and create music as a unified team.

Dedication – Students commit to consistent practice, personal growth, and supporting their ensembles to achieve their best performance.

Innovation – Creativity drives every aspect of music-making, encouraging students to explore new ideas, experiment, and bring originality to their work.

Excellence – Through accelerated study and advanced theory, students strive for mastery in both performance and academic understanding of music.

Passion – A genuine love for music inspires students to engage deeply, perform boldly, and embrace every opportunity to make and share music.

PATHWAYS

AMPed offers an integrated pathway that combines Instrumental/Choral and Classroom music, allowing students to achieve both academic excellence and musical mastery. Through accelerated progression in the Australian Curriculum – Music, students have exclusive class time and dedicated teacher support, enabling them to complete the Senior Music course by the end of Year 11.

Students also engage in extension studies in music theory, with opportunities for external accreditation through AMEB, deepening their understanding of musical elements and enhancing their creative performance. Participation in school ensembles and instrumental programs is a prerequisite, ensuring students develop both individual skill and collaborative experience.

This pathway prepares students for advanced music studies, performance opportunities, and future careers in music, while fostering the creativity, discipline, and passion that underpin lifelong musical engagement.

APPLY

To apply, students must undertake a music audition.

The audition process has two sections: a short-written theory exam that will occur on the same day as the practical audition, and a performance audition consisting of scales, one set piece of music and an own choice piece.

The results from the theory exam, audition, Instrumental Music results and application, including referee comments will be considered when assessing applications.

Refer to the school website for further information.
