Principal’s welcome

Our school has a strong vision of 'educating the whole person within a supportive local school community'.

The enrolment of your child/ren at The Gap State High School is special to us and we aim to provide a range of learning experiences and opportunities to enable your child to develop and grow during their time at school.Anne McLauchlan.jpg

The school has a history of consistently high Academic Achievement, Musical Composition, Performance, Visual Arts, Leadership and Personal Development, Mandarin Chinese, Physical Outdoor and Sporting Programs.

In recent times, our staff have developed and implemented unique curriculum programs that profile our student abilities and parental aspirations.  These programs complement and enhance traditional subjects providing acceleration, extension and enhancement.  We find active engagement in learning, challenges our students' curiosity and the desire to learn more and experience the wonderment of the world in which they live.

Our teachers constantly strive to provide the best learning environments and classroom experiences because they are strong believers in academic excellence.

We aim to provide an all-round education that also provides opportunities for those students who seek to broaden their horizons.  By participating in a range of additional co-curricular activities and by striving to improve skills, abilities and confidence, students find these undertakings help improve their academic and employability skills.

In 2014 the addition of a new multi-level teaching block coincided with the *Pilot Transition Program (2013 - 2015) for Year 7 into high school, allowing an increased school capacity.

Our sports hall was opened on Friday 21 February 2014 by our local member and Premier of Queensland, Campbell Newman.  This hall is one of the largest indoor school sporting facilities providing 2400 square metres of court playing area, modern facilities, storerooms, mezzanine level for weights, cardio rooms and large spectator area. Most nights and weekends you will find the sports hall filled with students and members of the community playing volleyball and basketball.

Our school offers many activities and encourages all students to become involved and actively participate.

We look forward to developing a strong partnership with your family as we develop a strong sense of community involvement within our school.
