  • Year 7-8 - iPad
  • Year 9 - Laptop Preferred (iPad accepted)
  • Year 10-12 - Laptop

 

2019 Minimum Specifications

   
 These are the minimum specifications.
 
  • Windows Laptops/Tablets: Windows 8.1, Pentium (purchased 2017 onwards), 5Ghz Wireless, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD
    NOTE: Equivalent AMD processors are acceptable
    NOTE: Wireless card must support 5Ghz
  •  
    • Graphics/Multimedia Laptops would need: 8GB RAM, i5 and a 2Gb Graphics Card
      Note: STEM subjects do not require a device greater than minimum specifications.
    • All specialist Graphics / Engineering/ Multimedia/ Digital Technology/ Film and TV classes are held in specialist school labs, A Graphics Card is optional for families who want the same specification device at home for students in these classes. Windows laptops are preferred for students undertaking specialist subjects.
    • Windows 10 is supported
      NOTE: Windows 7 & 10S are not supported in a school environment, please see IT to obtain a copy of Windows 10 Education Edition.
    • Sibelius is provided & installed by the school for both Mac and Windows Laptops for students studying Music Composition. 40GB free space is needed. Trial versions should not be installed at home.​​
     
  • Macbook Pro, MacBook Air: Mac OSX 10.X, 5Ghz Wireless, Core i5, 4GB RAM, 256GB SSD - Extra space needed if installing Bootcamp for Windows.
    NOTE: MacBooks are NOT essential for any subject. They are a family preference. Also some software used in certain subjects will NOT Run on MacBooks without BootCamp and Windows installed on the MacBook. (Allow at least 40GB free for this option). IT Support at the school can assist with this setup if needed.
     
  • iPad Specifications
    • iPad Air 2, iPad 5, iPad 6, iPad Pro
    • 9.7" Display Size or larger
    • 32 GB storage or higher
    • Protective case with inbuilt keyboard
    • Accidental Damage Protection recommended
  • Office suite or Apple equivalent (Free to all State Students, See Below)
  

Accidental Damage Protection is highly recommended for all devices. 

Antivirus software is mandatory for laptops. The following links through to a departmental offer. Students need their school network username and password to access it.

Free Microsoft Office & Adobe CC Suite

All state school students from Prep–Year 12 can now download multiple free copies of the Microsoft Office 2016 Suite  to their personal home and mobile computer equipment. 
 
Office 365 including One Drive and Outlook Web Access (email) is active and recommended to be used for all Gap High Students.

The Adobe Creative Cloud Suite can be installed on Student Laptops at the school IT helpdesk. The installation will require 15gb of storage.
(The school license does not include the Adobe video editing applications)
 
Note: Dropbox and Google Documents are not  accessible at school for students.
However, OneDrive for Students has just recently been activated at our school. This will become the preferred storage place for student work.
