North West District Sport

A wide range of sports are offered at the district level. This is an opportunity for students to compete and trial to make the North West Secondary District Sport Team.

The process for Swimming, Cross Country and Track & Field are as follows;

  • Students compete in The Gap SHS interhouse carnivalSwimming – Term 1 (Week 2)

  • The top two (2) placing swimmers from each race will advance and are eligible to compete at districts;

  • Further races such as 100m, 200m strokes and Medley can be nominated individually through the sports coordinator or teacher in charge of swimming.

  • Cross Country – Term 2 (Week 1)

  • The top ten (10) from each age group will advance to the district cross country course to race for a place in the district team.

  • Track and Field – Term 3 (Week 2)

  • The top two (2) from all field events will advance to compete at the district athletics carnival.

  • The top two (2) from all track events will advance with exception of the 100m event where the top four (4) will advance.

  • Students also have the opportunity to enter into the 3km race which needs to be nominated through the sports coordinator or the teacher in charge of the track and field carnival.

All students who have advanced to the district trial will be notified via the sports hall notice board (listing event results – times/distances). It is the students responsibility to notify the teacher in charge if they are not available for or not planning on participating at the district carnival/meet.

Final stage of application is completing the relevant COMPULSORY permission forms and project consent forms.

  1. Students are then directed to the Met North School Sport website for the COMPULSORY permission forms and project consent forms (Plus ‘9D’ Form for Swimming).

  2. These forms are to be printed out, filled in and brought to school for signing by relevant staff at school.

  3. Students will need to pay a small amount to the school for participating in the carnival/meet.

The process for other sports listed on the Met North School Sport website (https://metnorthschoolsport.eq.edu.au/Regionalsports/Oursports/Pages/Oursports.aspx) are as follows:

  1. Students are notified through school notices of the upcoming District trials.

  2. Students are to show there interest via communicating with the Sports Coordinator and putting their name on the sign up sheet.

  3. Students are then directed to the Met North School Sport website for further trial information and COMPULSORY permission forms and project consent forms.

  4. These forms are to be printed out, filled in and brought to school for signing by relevant staff at school

District trials for some sport may require a fee per student for trialling. This is done electronically via the ‘North West Secondary School Shop Online’ (link https://schoolshoponline.net.au/northwestsecondary/index.aspx). This will require creating an account to pay via this system

Please click on the ‘How to guide: School Shop Online’ for assistance

Please note all payments for trial must go through this system, if this is not completed (by the listed due date) the student will not be allowed to trial. The District and Met North strongly enforce the rule of ‘No Forms, No Payment, No Trial.’
