APP - Applied Positive Psychology

Applied Positive Psychology (APP)

Applied Positive Psychology (APP) has been developed as a core program for years 8 to 12.  It complements the school’s academic curriculum and equips students for a seemingly ever-changing world by delivering a holistic educational experience.

APP aims to develop student’s potential for life success while developing personal and social competencies and leadership skills.

The program has been designed within the school in direct responsive to the concerns and needs of parents and students. It is believed the skills APPs develops will give our students a significant competitive advantage.

APP has been independently investigated and evaluated by researchers at the University of Queensland and Griffith University as part of an international study run through Cambridge University, called Leadership for Learning.

This evaluation showed that APP has universal benefit for all students, regardless of gender or academic ability and is particularly effective in enhancing educational outcomes, developing leadership and planning skills, confidence and self-esteem.

Aim of the APP program

The APP program aims to enhance students' personal, social and leadership capacities in order to increase their potential for life success and their ability to contribute to and lead in their community.  

APP employs outdoor and adventure education as the vehicle for most of the subject content.
