Swimming Carnival

29/01/2019
The 2019 Swimming Carnival will see a radical new program for our The Gap State High School Community. This year, students will participate in a day carnival. On Wednesday 6 February, all students have been asked to meet their Connect teachers in the Sports Hall at 8:30am. From here, students will be directed to the awaiting buses and the entire school community will travel to the Albany Creek Leisure Centre. Students will participate in a fantastic day filled with fun events, water slides and of course swimming events.

During Sport in Week 1, students who are wanting to compete for Age Champion/Representative events will nominate for their events. Senior students will nominate for these events in their Connect class. Students have until Friday 1 February (Week 1) 3.00pm to get their nominations in. If students do not nominate for their events, they will not be considered for Age Champion points. All Age Championship events are pre nominated and cannot be entered on the day of the Swimming Carnival. Students who want to compete for fun on the day, do not have to pre nominate and instead they are encouraged to turn up on the day, participate and win points for their House.

Students will receive a hard copy of the Swimming Carnival permission letter on day one of this term, however we have also attached a copy to this Newsletter. ALL STUDENTS ATTENDING (EVEN IF NOT SWIMMING) MUST COMPLETE PERMISSION FORM AND RETURN TO THEIR CONNECT TEACHER.

All staff are very excited for our new program and we encourage all parents to come along to support their students. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
