Maths and Science Competitions

Enrolling in Informatics, Mathematics and Science Competitions 2019

Students are invited to participate in the following Mathematics, Science and Informatics Competitions for 2019 that are offered to students throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Region. The competitions are an opportunity for students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external examination situation with schools provided with a computerised summary of results and information regarding students’ achievements.  The questions are designed to cater for the complete spectrum of abilities.

Please note that competitions in 2019 will be held before school, approximately 7.30am dependent on the duration of the test.  CAT and ICAS will be BYO device online. Students are advised to note the date of the competitions in their diary and calendar. Additionally students will be reminded of the upcoming competition date and sitting time by email and in the daily Student Notices the week prior.

All students entering the competitions receive a Certificate and an Analysis of Results, suitable for inclusion in the student’s portfolio.  The analysis indicates which questions the students answered correctly together with the average success rate, success rate state wide, for each question.  The analysis is also useful for highlighting the student’s strengths and weaknesses in the skills and processes of Mathematics, Science and Informatics.  Medals and prizes are awarded by the organising bodies to the top student(s) in each year level.

Entries must be handed in at the Office together with payment indicating competitions chosen.  If paying by BPay include payment details and student name for each competition and return form to the office.  Entries can only be accepted if the entry form is received by the deadline.  No late entries will be accepted and no refunds will be made as the school is required to prepay these entries.
